 Rock Valley Conference boys soccer coaches had a hard time coming to an agreement on the league's top player this season.
So they made the unique decision to have three players to share the player of the year award: Whitewater senior forward Mike Messier, McFarland senior midfielder David Reinke and East Troy junior midfielder Riley Monahan.
Reinke was the leading scorer for the conference champion Spartans with 18 goals (eight game-winning goals) and four assists for 40 points, while Messier (14-4-32) led the runner-up Whippets. Monahan, meanwhile, ranked third in points for the high-scoring Trojans with totals of 13-6-32.
McFarland led the way with four selections on the 12-member first team, while Whitewater had three. McFarland senior forward Jody LaReau (9-8-26) and Jefferson senior midfielder Luis Ochoa were repeat selections from last season's inaugural All-Rock Valley first team.
Monahan, McFarland junior goalkeeper Mikey Juszczyk and East Troy sophomore forward Austin Drake (15-5-35) — chosen for the utility spot on the first team — were the only underclassmen on the senior-dominated squad.
